This policy explains what information LOTUS AI ("LOTUS," "we," "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. LOTUS is a voice-first personal assistant that helps you organize tasks, schedules, notes, and reminders. By using LOTUS, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
We collect only what's needed to run the service:
Account information: your name and email address, used to create and secure your account. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the name and email Apple shares (which may be a private relay address) and an Apple account identifier; we never receive your Apple password. If you sign in with Google, we receive the name and email Google shares and a Google account identifier; we never receive your Google password.
Content you create: the tasks, schedules, notes, projects, boards, photos, documents, books and reminders you add or ask LOTUS to create.
Voice input: when you speak to LOTUS, your speech is transcribed into text so LOTUS can act on it. Transcription is performed by Apple's speech recognition on your device, which may send audio to Apple's servers to produce the transcript. We do not store recordings of what you say to LOTUS — only the resulting text, which is processed like any other message you send. Voice notes you choose to record are saved in your account like your other content, and you can delete them at any time.
Wake word detection: if you enable the wake word setting, LOTUS listens for its name so you can start a conversation hands-free. This listening uses the same Apple speech recognition described above. Audio captured while waiting for the wake word is not stored by us and is not sent to our servers; only what you say after addressing LOTUS is processed as a message.
Subscription information: your subscription status, managed through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
How we use your information
To provide the core service — organizing your tasks, schedule, and reminders.
To process your messages and voice input so LOTUS can understand and respond.
To manage your account and subscription.
To maintain the security and reliability of the service.
LOTUS's AI, and your permission
LOTUS's assistant features are powered by third-party AI. Nothing is sent to them until you accept, which LOTUS asks the first time you use her. You can turn this off at any time in Settings › LOTUS AI; everything else in the app keeps working.
Anthropic (Claude): receives what you ask LOTUS, plus the items she needs to answer you, such as relevant tasks, calendar entries, notes, project and board contents, and the book page or passage you ask about.
ElevenLabs: receives the text of LOTUS's replies, to turn them into her spoken voice when voice is on, and a voice note's recording when you ask LOTUS to describe it, to turn it into text.
Each provider handles this data under its own terms and privacy policy.
Third-party services
To provide LOTUS, we share limited data with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf:
Anthropic — processes the messages you send to LOTUS to generate responses and organize your tasks.
ElevenLabs — converts LOTUS's text responses into spoken audio when voice is enabled.
Apple — provides the speech recognition that converts your spoken words into text.
Database and hosting providers — store your account and content securely so your data is available across sessions.
RevenueCat and Apple — manage subscriptions and purchases.
These providers process data only to deliver their part of the service and are bound by their own privacy and security terms. We do not sell your personal information.
Data security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data. Account passwords are stored in hashed form and are never kept in plain text. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
Your notes, binders, tasks, books, pictures and other content are yours. LOTUS staff do not look at the content of your account. If you ask for help with a problem that needs it, you can choose to allow LOTUS support to access your account for a limited time; this is off unless you turn it on, you can turn it off at any time, and every access is recorded.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Deleted items are held for a limited recovery window and then removed. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
Your choices
You can edit or delete your tasks, notes, and other content within the app at any time.
You can turn wake word detection off at any time in the app's settings.
You can turn LOTUS AI off at any time in Settings; no further data is sent to the AI providers while it is off.
You can disable voice features and microphone access in your device settings.
You can delete your account and data at any time in Settings, or by emailing us.
Children
LOTUS is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, notifying you in the app.
